Briefing Materials (BM1-1) WELCOME to the ITQ-4 WORKSHOP First of all, on behalf of the ITQ-4 Workshop Organizers and Resource Persons, I would like to congratulate you for being selected to participate in the 4th Trainers' Workshop on "Improving Training Quality (ITQ-4) through Interactive Learning Technologies and Distance Mentoring" which is jointly organized by World Bank Institute (WBI)/The World Bank, University Science Malaysia (USM), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)/University of Illinois. This ITQ-4 Workshop is an initiative supported by the World Bank Institute (WBI)'s Knowledge Utilization through Learning Technologies (KULT) Program. Website which provides detailed and up-dated information about the
Workshop's objectives, structure, methods, and important logistical as
well as travel arrangements. Starting September 10, 2001 more
information related to Phase-2 of the workshop activities will be
posted, including the workshop agenda, sessions' description, list of
resource persons and participants and their bio-sketch, reading
materials, news & briefings, etc. We will use this ITQ-4 Workshop
Website as one of our main communication channels and it will be our
information focal point. The Website address is: As you know, Phase-1 of the ITQ-4 Workshop: "Pre-Workshop Internet/Web-based Briefing & Discussion" will start on February 4, 2002. One of the Workshop Coaches, Dr. Sanjaya Mishra, will soon brief you on the ITQ-4 Pre-Workshop Online Conference activities. Mr. Luigi Canali De Rossi, the Workshop Online/Technology Support Coordinator, and his Deputy Coordinator, Mr. Massimo Curatella, will also inform you on the special features of the ITQ Online (-- a section of the ITQ-4 Website which is only accessible to ITQ-4 Workshop participants) and its interactive communication procedures and protocols. As we prepare for Phase-2 of the workshop activities, we will be communicating with you quite frequently in order to obtain information and suggestion inputs from you to make this ITQ-4 Workshop relevant and useful to your training needs. In the coming weeks, you will hear from other ITQ-4 Workshop Resource Persons, including Prof. Dato' Sulaiman Yassin, Workshop Head Coach, Ms. Nina Mapili and Captain Derek Lye, both Workshop Coaches, as well as from Prof. Ramli Mohamed, the Local Workshop Coordinator and myself, who will be briefing you on specific activities and/or requesting some information regarding the workshop. I look forward to meeting and working closely with you in the coming months during this ITQ-4 Workshop.
