Urgent Message: NEW DATES of ITQ-4 Workshop

Dear ITQ-4 Workshop Participants:

I am pleased to confirm the new dates for the ITQ-4 Workshop activities. We received the official confirmation two days ago from Shangri-La's Golden Sands Resort in Penang, Malaysia regarding the availability of the workshop venue and hotel rooms for the period of March 4-20, 2002 as well as the new reduced room rates. After a long and rather complicated process of rescheduling and consultations with participants, resource persons, and workshop vendors/sponsors, we finally have a time period (March 4-20, 2002) which seems to be acceptable to all of us. I am glad to inform you that as a result of this consultation process, none of our participants has cancelled the participation in the workshop.

As I indicated to you in my earlier e-mail message, we will restart the Phase-1 activities, starting February 4, 2002 for four weeks. Dr. Sanjaya Mishra, the ITQ-4 Online Learning Task Manager/Coach, will contact you in due time and provide the relevant information on the Phase-1 of the ITQ-4 Workshop's online learning activities.

Phase-2 of ITQ-4 Workshop will be held on March 4-20, 2002 in Penang, Malaysia. As a token of appreciation for your patience and cooperation during this workshop rescheduling process, the already heavily discounted hotel room rate is now further reduced from US$ 50/night per room to US$ 45/night per room (sea/garden/pool view), inclusive of tax & service charges, We are also renegotiating with Shangri-La's Golden Sands Resort for further discounts on laundry, food & beverage, etc. the details of which will be communicated to you upon your arrival at the hotel in March 2002.

Prof. Ramli Mohamed of USM will provide you with updated information in a couple of weeks on the logistical as well as the administrative aspects related to Phase-2 of the Workshop. For those of you who have not provided him with your Contact Information & Bio-Sketch (CIB) as requested earlier, please do so soonest as we need to post such information on the Workshop Website and include it in the Workshop Binder. For those of you who need a visa to enter Malaysia, please also check the visa validity if you have obtained it several months ago.

As a consequence of rescheduling Phase-2 to March 4-20, 2002, we will also need to postpone Phase-4 of ITQ-4 Workshop which will be held for 1 week in Bangkok, Thailand. The dates we propose for Phase-4 are: 16-21 September 2002. We will confirm these dates after we have completed our renegotiations with the AIT Center which hopefully will also result in better room rates (presently at US$ 27/night per room), etc.

By early January 2002 at the latest, we will also have the updated Workshop information related to Phase-1 and Phase-2 activities posted in the ITQ-4 Workshop Website. So please regularly visit the Workshop Website as well as the ITQ-Online section for the latest briefing notes, and other relevant information.

In closing, let me wish all of you a great holiday season(s) in the coming months, i.e., Eid Mubarak/Idul Fitri (in mid-Dec.) & Eid-ul-Adha & Haj (in Feb. ), X'mas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa (in Dec.) and Lunar New Year (in Feb). I also hope you will have a joyful 2002 New Year celebrations and wish you a peaceful new year which will bring good health, happiness and prosperity to you and your family.

I look forward to meeting and working with you in Penang in March 2002, and virtually in cyberspace much sooner.

With warmest personal regards.

Ronny
