Workshop Participants

Prof. Yassin is a well-known extension education and communication scholar and training practitioner, serving for many national, regional and international agencies, including CIRDAP, FAO, IAEA, ILO, UNESCO, UNFPA and the World Council of Mosques. His assignments included, among others, extension and training consultancy missions in the Republic of Albania, China, the Maldives, Thailand, etc., a formulation mission for a regional agricultural extension project in Asia, and on a mission to evaluate a regional integrated pest management project in East Asia. He has also been involved in FAO, UNFPA and the World Council of Mosques sponsored projects on environment education, youth leadership and population education training materials development in various Asian countries. 

Currently, he is also a Trustee of the Poverty Eradication Foundation of Selangor State and Secretary General of the International Society for Improving Training Quality (isitQ). His most recent assignment before now is Coach for the World Bank Institute's 3rd Trainers' Workshop on Improving Training Quality (ITQ-3) through Peer Learning and Distance Mentoring. He has also been bestowed a distinguished award by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, currently the King of Malaysia, which carries a 'Datoship' title to his name.

Prof. Yassin's research interests are in development communication and community empowerment, environment education and training technologies, and materials development. He has been a Fulbright Scholar to the USA where he obtained his Masters in Communication Arts and Ph.D. degrees in Extension Education and Communication at Cornell University.
