Prof. Dr. Tim L. Wentling is Professor of Information Science in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and Senior Research Scientist in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Wentling holds Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Illinois. Dr. Wentling has combined his education and business expertise to address relevant problems of education and training in the private sector as well as in the public sector and government. Prior to joining the University of Illinois faculty, Dr. Wentling was a professor at the University of Minnesota.

Professor Wentling has published over forty journal articles and eight books. His writing has focused on the improvement of training programs through systematic evaluation and curriculum design. He has also been heavily involved in the use of technology to deliver and improve training. Several of his most notable books are: Human Resource Development and Information Technology: Global Connections (2002), Teacher Preparation in Vocational Education (1996), Introduction to Microcomputer Technologies (1996), A Trainer's Guide to Curriculum Development (1993), Training Evaluation (1992), and Measuring Student Growth: Techniques and Procedures for Occupational Education (1988).

Dr. Wentling has been an active consultant, applying his skills to the improvement of education and training programs and management training. He has worked for a variety of companies and has led the design and implementation of many programs and evaluations. Recent clients include: Caterpillar, Inc., Unisys Corporation, Quaker Oats Company, General Motors, Continental Telephone Company, and Motorola. Professor Wentling has also applied his expertise to international settings serving for agencies such as Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)/United Nations and the World Bank, working in: Italy, Vietnam, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Nepal, Morocco, China, and other countries.
