| Dr. Yassin Mshana is the Training Coordinator of the Tanzania
Distance Learning Centre (DLC), which is a member of the Global
Development Learning Network (GDLN). He is a member of the
Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) in UK, Associate
Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK), a
Registered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of
Engineers, Tanzania.
Prior to joining Tanzania DLC, between 1999 and 2000, he was a Manager of the African Virtual University (AVU) project at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he was the main contact between AVU Headquarters in Washington and UDSM site. Between 1995 and 1997 he worked as a locum teacher and tutor in Design and Technology in UK. In his last engagement he was the Head of Engineering and Technology Department of SEEVIC College in London. From 1989 to 1994 he was a Teaching Fellow and Research Worker at the City University of London where he acquired his interest in the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in engineering. Dr Mshana has undertaken consultancy and management of various projects during the period of "ICT revolution" (1985 - 1998). Dr. Mshana holds a Ph.D. from the City University of London (UK), Masters degree in Technology from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK), and a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam. In 1996 he obtained his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Roehampton Institute, University of Surrey (UK) where he specialised in teaching Design and Technology. He has worked at the University of Dar es Salaam as a tutor and then a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. |
