| Ms. Nina Mapili is an independent consultant specialized in
international training, facilitation and business linkages. She
has been HRD consultant to the Chairman's Office of the Southern
Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI) since 1998, where
she developed and runs a series of workshops designed to support
regional integration through the exchange of export-related
skills. These workshops bring top executives of German companies
active in the region together with "new generation"
entrepreneurs from Southern African countries. Using the
framework of the SADC Quality Model, the workshops place special
emphasis on the concept of "Organisational Performance
Excellence".
From 1993 until April 2000, Ms. Mapili managed the Centre for Infrastructure Planning at the University of Stuttgart, in Stuttgart, Germany. The Centre is a central facility of the University of Stuttgart, and offers a master's course in infrastructure planning for experienced professionals from developing and threshold countries. Ms. Mapili attended Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona, and the University of Stuttgart, earning professional degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning in 1980 and 1985 respectively. Parallel to her other activities, she has worked as an architect from 1980 to the present, first in the USA, then in various offices in Germany. She has conceived of, organized and facilitated numerous international conferences, short courses, workshops, symposia and roundtables, both in Germany and in many countries of Southern Africa. Ms. Mapili was a participant in the World Bank Institute's 3rd Trainers Workshop on Improving Training Quality (ITQ-3) through Peer Learning and Distance Mentoring, Ms. Mapili is currently president of the International Society for Improving Training Quality (ISITQ). |
