Ms. Marie-Joëlle BROWAEYS

Ms. Marie-Joëlle Browaeys is Assistant Professor of Cross-Cultural Management and Project Manager in Virtual Education at Nyenrode University. She has been working at Nyenrode University since 1982. She gave courses in business French, communication techniques and intercultural communication both for the postgraduate and executive programmes. 

Currently, she is participating in the development of the Nyenrode e-learning laboratory and in the design of e-learning courses for corporate training. At Nyenrode she has developed seminars and executive training courses such as "Managing Managers" and "Managing People" for (senior) managers. In addition to this she has conducted training-courses and research in cross-cultural management, notably within the International MBA, Masters and Chinese Management Development Programme. She is also Programme Manager for the Rabobank Executive Modular MBA, responsible for course design and delivery. In addition to these responsibilities, she holds an external teaching post as Lecturer for Dutch expatriates at the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam.

She comes from France, she studied first in the Department of Education and Science in Lille (France), receiving a Certificate of Pedagogy and thereafter she graduated (with Honours) at the Faculty of Arts, University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Her research field is intercultural relations covering the entire European business field and she is the co-author of several publications on this subject. 

She has been amongst others, the co-author of a book on doing business with the French (1992). In 1996 she held the post of Researcher in Intercultural Management, working for Trompenaars Hampden-Turner (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). In 2000 she co-edited (with F. Trompenaars) a book entitled "Case studies on cultural dilemmas: How to use trans-cultural competence for reconciling cultural dilemmas". She is also involved in Ph.D. research on cross-cultural management.
